The Complete Guide to Cannabis Dispensary in Canada
What are cannabis dispensaries?
Cannabis dispensaries are retail stores that sell cannabis products and accessories. They are often located in areas where cannabis is legal for recreational or medicinal use.
How can cannabis dispensaries be useful?
Cannabis dispensaries can be useful for a variety of reasons. They can provide patients with access to medicine that they might not be able to find elsewhere, and they can also offer guidance and support to those who are new to using cannabis for medicinal purposes. Additionally, dispensaries can be a great resource for information about different strains and products, and they can help patients find the best possible treatment options for their individual needs. Recognizing legal cannabis products
Only federal cannabis license holders are permitted to cultivate cannabis for sale. This ensures that all legal cannabis products comply with stringent product safety and quality control standards.
With one exception, legal cannabis products are only sold through retailers authorized by provincial and territorial governments. Individuals who have been authorized by a healthcare professional can register to buy medical cannabis products directly from a federally licensed seller.
Can I legally open a cannabis dispensary in Canada?
There is no definitive answer, as the laws surrounding cannabis dispensaries vary from province to province. In some provinces, such as Alberta and Quebec, dispensaries are not currently legal. In others, like British Columbia, dispensaries are legal but must adhere to strict regulations. It is advisable to consult with a lawyer to determine the specific laws in your province.
According to a recent report by the Canadian Press, there are currently more than 2,600 licensed cannabis dispensaries in Canada. However, the number of actual storefronts is likely much higher, as many dispensaries operate without a license. The majority of these dispensaries are located in the province of Ontario, where there are currently more than 1,000 licensed dispensaries.
In the province of Quebec, there are currently more than 600 licensed dispensaries, while in Alberta there are more than 500. These numbers are only expected to grow in the coming years, as the Canadian government has plans to legalize recreational cannabis.
Where is it legal to consume cannabis or vape it?

There are numerous outdoor public spaces (e.g. sidewalks, parks)
Guest rooms designated as smoking areas in hotels, motels, and inns
